Cookie Policy
Last updated
Cookies and similar storage are small pieces of data a website keeps in your browser. This page lists every one this site uses. If something isn't on the list, we don't use it.
The short version
- A few necessary items make the site work and remember your choices. They never identify you to anyone else.
- Google Analytics cookies are only set if you choose to allow analytics.
- Google reCAPTCHA only loads once you start filling in the contact form, to keep spam out.
- We don't use advertising or marketing cookies, and we don't sell data.
Necessary storage
These are always on, because the site can't work properly without them. German law (§ 25(2) TDDDG) allows them without consent.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| tx-consent | Local storage | Remembers your cookie choice and the version of this policy you agreed to | Until you change it or clear your browser; we ask again after 12 months |
| tx-visited | Local storage | Remembers that you've seen the short intro animation, so it only plays on your first visit | Until you clear your browser |
| tx-tier | Session storage | Only set if a test link forces a lighter or heavier version of the 3D graphics | Until you close the tab |
Spam protection on the contact form
When you start filling in the contact form, we load Google reCAPTCHA v3. It runs in the background without a puzzle and helps us tell real enquiries from automated spam. Nothing from reCAPTCHA loads on any other page, or on the contact page until you use the form. We consider it strictly necessary to provide the form you asked to use without it being flooded by spam (§ 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG).
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _GRECAPTCHA | Google (cookie on google.com) | Supports the risk analysis that tells people and bots apart | 6 months |
| rc::a, rc::b, rc::c, rc::d-… | Google (storage on google.com) | Records interactions used to tell people and bots apart | From the end of the session to permanent, set by Google |
Google's Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab) and Terms of Service (opens in a new tab) apply to reCAPTCHA. If you'd rather not use it, you can email us instead at [email protected].
Analytics cookies (only with your consent)
If you allow analytics, we load Google Analytics 4 from Google Ireland Limited. It helps us see which pages are read and where visitors get stuck. We use Google Consent Mode v2 with every setting denied by default, so nothing is stored or sent to Google until you agree.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Tells visits by the same browser apart with a random ID | 2 years | |
| _ga_<ID> | Keeps track of the current visit for this site's analytics property | 2 years |
If you later withdraw consent, we tell Google Analytics to stop and delete these cookies from your browser.
Marketing cookies
None. The cookie settings include a marketing option so the choice is ready if we ever add such a tool, but nothing uses it today. We would update this page and ask you again first.
How to change your settings
Use the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page to reopen the banner and change your choice at any time. Changes take effect straight away.
You can also block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. If you block local storage, the site still works, but it will ask about cookies on every visit.
